The energy of the future is under big challenges: after the multiple integration of renewable energy sources, there have to be integrated a lot of small decentralized energy producing systems. That is why from now on intelligent systems are needed, that allow in a monitoring and controlling, to react on needs and changes and integrate in network.   

Smart Grids are electricity networks that can intelligently integrate the behavior and actions of all users connected to it in order to efficiently deliver sustainable, economic and secure electricity supplies.

They deliver electricity from suppliers to consumers using two-way digital technology to control appliances at consumers' homes to save energy, reduce cost and increase reliability and transparency.

Investors and consumers need to be informed about the actual status in Europe and Romania, law, financing possibilities and practical examples of smart grids. That is why, Romanian National Institute for Energy Development Studies - IRE together with REECO - Renewable Energy Exhibition and Conference Organiser all over Europe, plan to organize the Smart Grids Challenges Conference, on the  November 26^th 2010, in Palace Hall Bucharest.
